Last week, our Year 11 and Sixth Form students had the pleasure of visiting the Marbella Pool of Talents. Their visit was a valuable opportunity to explore the importance of gaining real-world work experience alongside their academic success.
While strong academic results are important, today’s professional world places equal—if not greater—value on practical skills, adaptability, and hands-on learning. Experiences such as internships and workplace visits give students the chance to:
- Bridge the gap between theory and practice
- Develop essential workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, time-keeping and meeting deadlines.
- Gain insights into career paths and industries beyond the classroom, allowing them to choose their careers with more insight.
- Build the confidence to take initiative and solve real challenges
We believe that education extends beyond textbooks. Practical exposure not only enhances employability but also empowers young people to discover their passions and talents early on.
We were very fortunate to have two ex-EIC students deliver keynote speeches and talk about their experiences in the work environment. Cristina Alvarez Luque spoke about her experiences in various countries and businesses, using her adaptability to move from one job to another, a skill students develop here at The EIC. Beatriz del Rio Perez spoke about the importance of languages in the business world and the opportunities that our students are getting with their British education set in an international setting whilst immersing themselves in Spanish culture.
