The GCSE and A-Level Drama students visit the Salon Varietés Theatre for The Woman in Black

"During afternoon tea, a shift in the air.
A bone trembling chill that tells you she's there.
There are those that believe that the whole town is cursed
but the house in the marsh is by far the worst.
What she wants is unknown but she always comes back,
The spectre of darkness........The Woman in Black!"

The GCSE and A-Level Drama students were brave enough to experience the spine-chilling story of The Woman in Black at the Salon Varietés Theatre in Fuengirola on Wednesday 24th January for our first evening theatre trip of 2024. Once again they became theatre critics as the performance prepares them for the written components of the syllabus. This infamous story expertly portrayed by only 2 actors provided lots of visual and aural stimulation as the students were gripped by the action on stage and left in suspense and screaming in fear as the story unfolded.

They were also lucky to have a Q&A session with the actors, crew and director of the play immediately after the performance, giving them some valuable insider information as to how some of the terrifying effects were executed! Students commented that "It was a really fun night but scary", "It had me intrigued and on the edge of my seat" and "I can't wait for the next one" highlighting the fantastic evening that was had by all!
