In Year 9, history students engaged in a diplomatic simulation role play to learn about the alliances that were in place by 1914 and the build up to the first world war. Students acted as diplomats of one of the protagonist countries of WW1 and in that role they needed to send each other diplomatic messages to establish an alliance. Like in 1914, the final result was a divided Europe around two major alliances who were at the point of starting a war.
