Year 6 - Experiences of WW2

Year 6 - Experiences of WW2

Year 6 were extremely fortunate to have Phoenix’s ‘Oma’ come and speak to them today via a zoom call from the U.K. Fay had a fascinating and inspirational story to share all about her family’s experiences of WW2.

From the 82 year old Anderson shelter still in her garden, to her cousin’s experiences of being on the St Louis boat escaping to Cuba, to calling her relative in America (during our Zoom call!) to answer a question posed by one the children during her talk, it was apparent to see that Year 6 were thoroughly engaged in listening to her true life experiences. What a wonderful way to see their classroom learning brought into real life.
