Year 5 started their new topic ‘Natural Disasters’ with an eruption! In their Topic lessons, they learnt about the different types of volcanoes and why they erupt. This naturally provided a link to Science, where the children focussed on chemical reactions. Working together in small groups, they made models of a volcano that looked very life-like before mixing vinegar and bicarbonate of soda together to have a small (safe!) experience of a volcanic eruption!
