Yesterday the whole of EIC celebrated World Book Day! In the Primary school, lessons were focused on books and many closely followed our 'Heroes and Villains' theme! The Early Years and Reception children went on a book hunt and read their favourite books to their teddy bears; in Year 4, the children had to design a snack or drink based on their superhero/villain costume they were dressed as and use persuasive techniques to advertise it; Miss Kaly used books in her Year 4 Maths measurements lesson; and the Year 6s created their own superheroes, thinking about how to design and describe a character in detail. There were many other great activities taking place too and it was lovely for the campus to feel so alive and enthusiastic about books!
In Secondary, Year 12 students helped supervise the second-hand book fair, which was a great success, raising much-needed funds for our house charities. There were also reading activities across the Key Stages, including quizzes, discussions and Drop Everything and Read. All in all, a very colourful World Book Day at EIC!
