The Primary Swimming Squad has had a very busy start to the term with numerous training sessions both before and after school. Our Year 5 and 6 students were all extremely honoured and privileged to be invited back to train at the Centro de Alta Rendimiento(high altitude training centre) up in the mountains of Sierra Nevada alongside our Secondary students. This was an amazing opportunity for the Primary students when you think that they were rubbing shoulders with Olympians that will be competing in Tokyo 2020 next year, truly inspirational. The state of the art facilities really helped to set the tone for gala week and the squad was prepared, determined and ready!
Gala day arrived and the excitement was palpable, the athletes were dying to get going. It was the first experience of a swimming gala for many of our Year 3 students who gave their all and overcame nerves to produce some great performances and a good string of personal bests. They should be extremely proud of themselves as we are certainly very proud of them. The older students acted as great mentors and certainly showed us all how it should be done with some truly amazing performances.
Our department would like to say a huge well done and thank you for all the hard work you have put in. You are all superstars to us! We would also like to thank the parents for ferrying you to training and for the support on the day.
