Student Mobile Phone Policy

Updated on: Fri Jan 27, 2023

Primary Students and Secondary Students up to and including Year 11

  • No Primary Students or Secondary students (with the exception of Sixth Form) are allowed to bring a mobile phone into school.
  • Students have access to tablets and/or laptops required to complete work, so there is no reason for them to have a mobile phone with them.
  • Any student who is seen using a phone in school will have the device confiscated for a period of one week. The device will be kept securely in the school office and students will be able to collect the device after the one week's confiscation period.
  • We understand that some parents whose child(ren) travel on the school bus want their child(ren) to have a mobile phone with them so that they can be in contact to be collected from the bus stop, or to ensure they have safely arrived home. In these circumstances, the student should leave their mobile phone at the school office when they arrive at school, and collect it at the end of the day before they get back on the school bus.  We  would ask parents to inform either Miss Harriet (for Primary students), Miss Carmen (for students in Years 7 to 9) or Miss Rienzi (for students in Years 10 & 11) confirming that their child(ren) will need to leave a mobile phone in the school office.
  • At no point should mobile phones be used to capture still or moving images from the school campus.
  • All phones left in the office will be clearly labelled and stored securely through the school day.
  • It is important that the School and Parents work together regarding mobile phones. It ensures that all students are able to focus on their work without any distractions and maintains the safety of students throughout the day on the school campus.

Sixth Form Students

  • Sixth Form students have a number of independent study sessions, so may bring a mobile phone in order to listen to music while they are studying.
  • Mobile phones should only be used in the Sixth Form Centre during study periods - they should not be used around the school or in the Refectory.
  • Students should use a mobile data connection during the school day - the school wifi network is reserved for school devices to ensure they can connect and deliver an uninterrupted learning experience.
