More and more children have been popping up in our classrooms since year 2 have begun the self-portraits unit in art! We started with sketching our faces using pencils, and after experimenting with mixing paint colours we swiftly moved onto painting our self-portraits.
The next part of our art unit was to explore different artist’s self-portraits and they created bright and vivid self-portraits using tissue paper and pastels in the style of Pablo Picasso.
We also used the brush-stroke techniques of Vincent Van Gogh to create both gloomy and cheerful backgrounds for our self-portraits.
It is a pleasure to have so many children in the class smiling as you walk into the classroom! |
