Primary - Year 1

Our Spring topic is all about Toys. We have been investigating toys both old and new, looking at them, playing with them and describing them. The children have been working hard and have even invented new toys of their own with special powers.

Last week in Year 1 we had a ‘ROBOT WEEK’. The inspiration for our robots came from a fantastic story
‘Harry and the Robots’

We planned and designed a robot in Numeracy using 2D Shape.

We then decided to make our Robots more realistic by making them 3D out of Junk modelling. We had lots of fun making them. We tried hard to work independently to cut the tape and attach the pieces together but we were also very good at asking for help when we needed it.

When we finished assembling our robots we decorated them with shiny colours and 2D Shapes.

When the robots were finished we wrote about our robot, giving it a special robot name and describing the special powers that it has. We also investigated the different 2D and 3D shapes that we used on our robot.

We even had a special visit from Mr Stevenson from the Upper School Art Department. He thought our Robots were fantastic!

Come and see the Robot displays in the Year 1 classes

In Year 1 our topic has been Animals and living things.

We have been learning about the different ways that animals move, what they need to live and where they live. We have produced fantastic work all about our topic.

We enjoyed a great trip to the Farm School in Fuengirola to learn first hand about animals and their environemnts and even had a ride on Santa the donkey.

Take a look at some of the super artwork and writing produced.
