KS2 Christmas Show - Mr Humbug sees the light.

This year's shows have been a great success with some stunning solo performances and outstanding group singing.

What has been really impressive is KS2's ability to learn, off by heart, some quite complicated lyrics. When this was combined with acting and movement it really came together to showcase our students' abilities.

As ever it was a real team effort, from Mr Pol at the lighting desk adding some very subtle effects, Miss Anna on sound, Miss Sophie choosing the show and all KS2 staff rehearsing and directing like crazy.

Above all the students who sang, acted and danced so well!

KS1 Show

Again the Key Stage 1 show really impressed both audiences. Just as in the Key Stage 2 show the children were pushed with some quite challenging lyrics, they now all know what chillbains are!

The singing was  impressive with one or two solo performances to raise eyebrows. A high point for me was the Spanish song Feliz Navidad led by Miss Maria Jesus.

Another great team effort, costumes knocked up in one weekend by the tireless Miss Avril, sets constructed then taken done and reconstructed, Mr Pol and Miss Maria Jesus, on sound and light and Miss Carol's choice of musical.

Well done to everyone involved especially the students.

Mission statement

It is our aim that children will enjoy music lessons with a balance of listening, composing, performing and appraising.

The lower school music course at EIC follows the requirements of the Music National Curriculum of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We aim to give the children a broad and balanced musical education with plenty of opportunities to perform.

Children will learn about and sing songs from around the British Isles. They will learn about music from different periods and genres.

Lower School music news

It has been an exciting year in primary music with lots to report, from the purchase of some top quality African drums, to the recording of our first CD, to the first performances of the school orchestra! Exciting times!

African Drumming

Mr. Pol has been able to start our first African drumming club, some afternoons you are sure to have heard year 4´s exciting poly rhythms emanating from the primary computer lab. As well as being enjoyable, the educational benefits for the children of this after school club are huge. Look out for their next performance.

The EIC Orchestra

The EIC orchestra has long been a dream and finally it has come true. After much hard work from everybody, especially Miss Petrina we have been able to enjoy the sounds of our very own music ensemble. Started as a Lower School orchestra it has now grown to encompass students from the upper key stages.  Feedback from the Christmas concert tells us that the orchestra has been really well received by pupils and parents alike. A special thanks here for the dedication of our students and staff for making this happen. Miss Petrina has spent countless hours organizing bespoke arrangements for our group.

The orchestra rehearses every Monday throughout the year from 4 o’clock until 5. If you are interested in joining us please contact Miss Petrina or Mr. Dave.

Singing

We are very lucky at EIC to have some top quality recording equipment as well as the expertise of Mr. Geoff. We were therefore able, at the end of the summer term, to record some of the singing work that the children had done throughout the year. The enthusiasm of our students never ceases to amaze me; I hope you enjoy these excerpts.

If you would like a copy of the CD please come and see Mr Dave.
