El Torcal
This term Year 6 were lucky enough to visit El Torcal nature reserve, and what an experience it was! After the two hour bus journey, we went on a long trek through the reserve over rather slippery terrain. We managed to avoid any injuries and were rewarded with magnificent views we and saw some amazing wildlife!

WWII
To end our topic in style, Year 6 had a ‘World War II Day’ just before half-term. We had evacuees, 1940s women at work and even Winston Churchill himself attended! The day was packed with fun activities, including making ration cookies, ration books and Union Jacks. We ended the day with a VE street party, enjoying Victoria Sponge whilst listening to Vera Lynn, where even the teachers couldn’t resist a little dance!!

Wow what a fantastic spring term Year 6 had.  It all begun with us going back to the 1960’s, and ended with Volcanoes being erupted on the playground!

Hippy Day!

I had been looking forward to Hippy Day for ages; I think everybody had! First, we came into school wearing our superb costumes. Everyone was impressed with what each other was wearing. We were even more impressed by our teacher’s magnificent costumes! When we got into class, the first thing we did was present our posters and power-points (teams were selected, and were given a topic about John Lennon). Because our posters/power-points were all very good, each group took up more time than we expected; we had to continue after break time! After we finished that, the teachers set up the food, and it was absolutely delicious! There were: pineapple and cheese sticks; tons of crisps; cakes and toffees (which were kindly baked by students) and loads of other lovely food! Then it was lunch with V.I.P. table. After lunch we watched the Year 3 assembly- it was really good! Personally, I’m really glad that Miss Nicola and Miss Sarah put in loads of effort into making Hippy/1960’s Day a special day for the Year 6 classes. I doubt anyone would disagree with me!

Eliza Zaleeva Year 6N

Welcome to a new year and a new Year 6. This term our topic is Children during War times.  Within our History lessons we have experienced the Blitz and how it feels to be an evacuee!  We have also linked this to our Art work, creating propaganda posters and Blitz scenes using water colours, chalk and black card.
