This year has once again been a busy year. New staff
settled in quickly and the standard of teaching and learning
is very good.
The annual events took place and were, as
usual, well supported by parents. In October Poetry Week
took place, culminating in two assemblies. This curriculum
based event replaced Halloween.

Primary education sets a foundation for
life. The primary curriculum covers all aspects of learning
– language, Mathematics, logical creative and physical.
Physical well being is crucial – happy, healthy
children learn best.
|
During the week activities are set requiring children
to work in different ways. Children in primary develop
the ability to undertake sustained activities independently.
|
Learning from real life situations
is always the first choice. Concentration is easier to achieve
when children see things for themselves. Our gardens provide
a wonderful environment for art and science.
|
Learning makes sense when children can
experience things for themselves, not just listen, look
and read! Finding out how other people live is important.
Simulating an international food day in the Reception
classroom, encouraged children to try foods they had not
tasted before.

During
the day children need time to relax the brain, socialise and
mix with other age ranges. Each year a different craze takes
over in the playground. This year Bay Blades have kept children
occupied. It is good to see that the appeal of ball games,
skipping and “tag” never fade! |
