| British artist, Andrew Hewkin, visited us again this year.
Year 6 had the opportunity to meet Andrew again, be inspired
as artists and visit his exhibition at the Las Dunas hotel.
This year the artistic challenge set was “Doors”.
Andrew has taken this theme as part of his exhibited work. The
“doors” to art were truly opened and a selection
of the finished doors were hung alongside the work of a real
artist in the exhibition.
Andrew escorted the children around his exhibition explaining
the background to each painting. He then had a question and
answer session before presenting his awards to the children.
The winners were:

3rd Georgina
Leanne , Karim , Max and Joanne were highly commended.
The link with Andrew has brought Art alive for the children.
He has challenged them in a very positive way in order that
they feel “yes, we can do it”.
We hope he returns to the coast for another exhibition next
year.
