| The Show Goes On
Here at EIC we have ‘traditions’ (events that
happened last year as well as this!) ‘established traditions’
(events that have happened for at least three years running!)
‘long established traditions’ (five years or more!)
then there is the Sixth Form Show which has been staged every
year since 1988, before most of you students were born.
Each year a new pool of talent enters the Sixth Form and
rarely does anyone appear in more than two shows, so the show
itself is always fresh and new. This year we also had a new
director, the latest in a much shorter line of only three
or four names. We waited with anticipation to see how the
new show would look.
Anyone who was the slightest bit worried need have had no
fear, the show was excellent! Some new ideas blended well
with the traditional to produce a refreshing new twist on
the established theme. The comedy was first class, the dancing
was beautiful, the music and singing superb, the writing of
the ‘home grown’ stuff was brilliant and the boys
looked good in all those girlie outfits. I don’t want
to single out individuals for praise amongst so much that
was excellent, although Emerson’s legs deserve a special
mention. I hear one or two of the girls are quite jealous.
It is gratifying to see that ‘the show’ which
is one of the highlights of the year is, once again, in very
capable hands and I, for one, hope that Lucy Hughes stays
around to direct many more of them.
