SCIENCE IS FUN DAY
|
Year 3 pupils were very excited when they were invited to come and spend an afternoon in the laboratories on the 20 Nov 2001. The purpose of these types of sessions, which have been organised by the Science Department for the last three years, is to make Science exciting and fun to study. As the accompanying pictures show, that is exactly what was accomplished.
The hands-on activities organised for such sessions vary according to the age of the pupils. Year 3 had a variety of experiments including chromatography, using acid/alkali indicators, static electricity, secret messages, classification of animals, using motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Classes are chosen at random and parents are invited to participate at these sessions. The afternoon usually ends with demonstrations of experiments, which leave a long lasting impression on the pupils. Thank you Year 3 for your enthusiasm. The Science Department enjoyed having you in the laboratories and we were impressed with some of your answers, which would put our budding physicists in Year 11 to shame.
See their "Thank You" letters which indicate the success of these sessions.
